Choose languages by audience
Arabic reaches the whole country, Kurdish speakers in the Kurdistan Region often prefer Sorani, and Duhok and Zakho also read Kurmanji. English helps with oil and construction firms and foreign partners. Start with the languages your customers use, not all at once.
Right-to-left done properly
Arabic and Sorani read right to left, so text, forms, tables and numbers must behave correctly. Test with real content, because mixed Arabic and English lines are where layouts break.
Real translations, not machine text
Have each language written or checked by a native speaker. Business terms differ between Baghdad and Erbil, and a stiff translation loses trust faster than a missing page.
One address per language
Give every language its own web address and its own page titles and descriptions, so search engines can show the right version to the right visitor. Link the versions to each other.
Make the switch easy to find
Put the language chooser in the header, remember the visitor’s choice and never force a language based only on location.
