Cash on delivery is still the habit
In Iraq many shoppers still prefer to pay when the parcel arrives. Offering cash on delivery lifts conversions, but it needs a clear confirmation step, a phone number that works and a courier who returns the money promptly.
Wallets and cards
Local wallets such as ZainCash and cards from Qi Card are familiar to many customers, while international Visa and Mastercard acceptance depends on the merchant account and the bank. Start with the methods your customers already use, then add more.
- Cash on delivery with order confirmation by phone or WhatsApp
- Wallet or card payment through a licensed payment provider
- Bank transfer for larger business orders
Currency and receipts
Show prices in the currency you really charge, dollars or dinars, and say which one is binding. Send a receipt by email or WhatsApp for every payment so disputes are easy to settle.
Match orders and payments
Link each order to its payment status in one admin screen. Failed or pending payments should not reserve stock for long, and cancelled orders must release it again.
Test before launch
Place real test orders on a phone with a weak connection, pay with each method and check the emails. Your first customer should never be your tester.
