List the data first
Forms, newsletter sign-ups, bookings, checkout and analytics all collect personal data. Write down each one with what it collects, why and who sees it. Every other step depends on this inventory.
- Contact and booking forms
- Customer accounts and order history
- Analytics, cookies and ad pixels
- Staff and applicant data from careers pages
Know the law and the regulator
Bahrain’s Personal Data Protection Law, Law No. 30 of 2018, sets rules on lawful processing, consent, security and the rights of individuals, and the Personal Data Protection Authority oversees it. This is general guidance, not legal advice, so confirm details with a Bahraini lawyer.
Be open and keep records
Publish a privacy notice in Arabic and English, collect consent where the law needs it, and keep a simple record of what you process and why. Make it as easy to withdraw consent as to give it.
Protect and plan for incidents
Use HTTPS, two-step admin logins, role-based access and tested backups. Decide in advance who investigates a breach, who is told and how fast, so you are not improvising on the day.
