A fast website: why Core Web Vitals matter

A slow site costs you customers and search ranking. The three key metrics and how to improve them.

When a page takes a second longer to open, some visitors give up. Google also considers Core Web Vitals, which measure user experience, in its ranking.

Three key metrics

  • LCP: how long the main content takes to appear; a good value is 2.5 seconds or less.
  • INP: response time to taps and clicks; a good value is 200 milliseconds or less.
  • CLS: layout shift while the page loads; a good value is 0.1 or less.

How to improve

  • Serve images at the right size and in a modern format
  • Remove unnecessary scripts and plug-ins
  • Load fonts and critical styles quickly
  • Use strong hosting and caching
  • Deliver from close to the visitor with a content delivery network (CDN)
Speed is not a detail; it is part of the product.

Globalsoft sites are coded for speed from the start and measured after launch as well. We can assess the speed of your current site together with you.
